The Rideau Arcott is a Canadian agricultural success story! These absolute gems were developed right here in Canada at the Animal Research Centre in Ottawa (ARCOTT).

Combining several sheep breeds, followed by years of production recording, resulted in a breed with exceptional maternal characteristics including high prolificacy (multiple lambs), excellent mothering ability, increased milk production, extended lambing season, and the ability to successfully breed out of season. These qualities allow the Rideau to flourish in various management systems and offer improved revenue. They also excel in crossbreeding programs which emphasize on meat production.
